What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a complimentary therapy using therapeutic touch on the feet. It seeks to work with the body’s natural healing efforts, taking the view that the mind, body and emotions interact and influence a person’s well being completely.
Reflexology does not diagnose disease nor attempt to treat or cure specific medical conditions.
Reflexology recognises that there are links between points on the hands and feet and organs and systems of the body. Reflexology induces deep relaxation, improves circulation, stimulates nerve supply and energy flow, counteracting the negative effects of stress and a hectic lifestyle. Therapeutic treatments through touch to the feet have been in existence since ancient times.
The Association of Reflexology, AoR, is the leading professional body established since 1984. The AoR expects members to abide and work by their strict codes of conduct and ethics. It is also expected that therapists will continue their professional development throughout their careers.
